Mumbai-Darshan — 19th March
As usual I had multiple wakeup alarm on mobile. Anyways got up and fast tried to get ready for the 7:07 train from Koperkhairaine. Just on time reached there and got into the train. It was the first experience of Mumbai local train. Being the Sunday and curfew there wasn’t a great rush. Anyways I had to change 3 trains to get to Vidyavihar. And there was usual great rush at Kurla. But I was saved because of my ignorance as I was sitting on first class compartment.
One more thing that I had heard about Mumbaites was they don’t give you any time and they are at great rush. But I never faced such thing. Whenever I asked for the directions they gave me (which was in plenty). It was just like any other place. Maybe I was lucky but I would prefer to consider it otherwise.
From Kurla to Vidyavihar, I met Arpil and then we reached the campus together. There at KJSOM they showed the presentation for the college. Such a huge college amidst the Mumbai main area is quite an achievement. Anyways the group was divided after verification of the documents. The case study was quite boring. One sided case and no one had to say something against the case. In PI me a lady and a gents. She was quite affable and I think that it was quite ok. Thereafter I had lunch. After asking couple of local students decided to go for India gate and then for Juhu beach cahupati.
Got a train till Victoria Terminus (VT). Really the look is like that of Victorian age. The railway station the police headquarters and all other offices or shops in the vicinity wore the look of the ancient times. Great grandeur. It somehow reminded me of the Delhi structures, but they are quite different that’s Mughals and this one is quite recent and quite European.
Taking directions I went to the Gateway of India. Gosh how much dirty the ocean water is there!! I had been there once more with my parents and stayed for quite a small time. This time all the time was mine and my train was at 10:00 pm. And now it was only 1:00 am. Got all the time to kill. Went there and tapa and naapa the foreign maal. Due to heat Arpil wanted to return to pune. I stayed there. Saw the people from different walks of life going for boating towards Elephanta caves which is 9 km from there on boat. Later on the park was opened and I was quite tired and slept and rested there for an hour. Then at around 6, I thought that I will utilize the time and see Juhu and Chaupati in the meanwhile.
I asked for directions and the person asked me to go to Santa-cruz. Whether it was my way of asking or what I believe that I was given a wrong direction. Reaching Santa-cruz was so late that I decided to return to Central. So went there. It was like Mumbai-darshan with bus. Saw many things from bus. I think that I traversed a lot there. Later on got to train and having a reserved journey had a good night sleep. Meanwhile I had a chance encounter with the Isro guy at train.
