TOI has perhaps, finally got it’s first amateur victim (http://o3.indiatimes.com/the_iconoclast). Reason being that his blog got him the first page publicity at TOI. And perhaps even now they are blissfully unaware of what’s happening. Now that the author has removed all his post many won’t be able to recall what was going on there. The things that pain me most are.
1. Any blogs that has TOI page link virtually becomes a battlefield. Whether it is the Pro and Anti reservation people, Muslim and Non Muslim people. Now the latest being the north and south people. Here at highlighted blogs what anyone needs is the reason to fight.
2. So called debates sure need scapegoats. Now in all probability whenever the two warring sides fight each other, they have to substantiate their claims with example. And here Comes Bihar in almost all examples cited, whether it buttress theirs claim or not. It’s like master answer that will go in any debate answers. This Sucks
3. It some times seems that (shared by some bloggers) the TOI gives that blogs spaces in theirs main page which has the possibility to ignite passions. In which there can be two poles. The main reason of this seems to increase the hit-counts and consequently the popularity of the site.
4. Some times we see the comments of the foreigners and they too look appalled. What image are we portraying to them? We are too hollow divided from within that we don’t need an outside enemy to vanquish us.
The Immediate thing that brought this to my notice was the responses the author got in his blog, mentioned above. In fact author removed everything that he wrote in his entire blog. The blog was simply about the incident of some rioting during the funeral of Dr. Rajkumar the Great Kannadiga Actor. The only thing that the author questioned was why did he add Dr. to his name when he got an Honorary Phd. Now the things were heightened by the fact that TOI had its link on its main page. Soon the fight erupted between the readers and snowballed into North Vs South.
No one was far in mudslinging and calling names in all ways possible. Many even demanded that South should be made independent. So that it can reach the developed tag soon, only because of the North they are so lagging. There were sensible comments too but they were being hijacked by the rogue elements. After all till when one can keep ones cool. The author removed his post and wrote something about it. That he didn’t like his blog being public akhara and all fighting against their fellow Indians. But it wasn’t going to stop and again the same bickering started. Finally he removed his blog completely without the provisions of commenting.
Thus Toi had its first victim. Really it pains to see the fellow brethren to fight online which gives anonymity. Hopefully, maybe as one said, because of the online thing, one can vent theirs anger, without physically injuring some one. Maybe that’s better.
What does the central government wishes to do is beyond comprehension. They have proposed to add reservation of OBC in centrally funded institutions. Thus, making the total reservation, to 49.5%. Now what bothers me most is that Manmohan Singh government has done it out of the blue, when there wasn’t any demand for this. This is a total appeasement policy Reservations were meant to be abolished after 50 years of independence. Now more avenues are being searched including the reservation in private jobs as well.
Amidst this what is being expected of the general students apart from angst anguish and hatred against the people who got reservation. These politicians are hell bent on creating the rift between the persons of different categories. Now there are many people from upper caste who don’t have the means. While the benefit of reservation is going to only the people who have already availed them. Why do they need reservation when they entered a professional college and also when they need jobs? They are the multiple beneficiaries. Why not there be a policy of once in a lifetime usage of reservation. I am sure that this will help the wider populace of the reserved category people.
But then what will happen to the vote-bank of the politicians. So it’s never going to be implemented and hence so much of this. Congress was doing so well in itself and now it has done blunders for such petty gains in state elections. It’s just that one feels alien to in one own country, just because he is from upper caste. It’s much more equality in
Maybe we aren’t getting the inner meaning of the policy right. By legislating this they wish to make more NRI’s which then bring the green bills back to their so called homeland which provided such laws that one was forced to study and work abroad.
